11+ Entrance Exam
The 11 Plus exam is a competitive test taken in Year 6 for entry into selective secondary schools, including grammar schools and independent schools.
Most 11+ assessments cover English, Maths, Verbal Reasoning, and Non-Verbal Reasoning, with some private schools also requiring an interview.
We provide expert 11+ tuition tailored to your child’s needs and have helped students gain places at leading schools such as Marlborough College, Sevenoaks, Latymer Upper, Wycombe Abbey, and UCS.
Our lessons focus on building subject knowledge, refining exam technique, and preparing for interviews. We also support families with long-term study plans to ensure consistent progress and strong exam-day performance.
13+ Entrance Exam
While similar to the 11+, which tests Maths and English, the 13 Plus usually includes a Science component and often involves interviews to assess skills like creative writing and critical thinking.
Admissions processes vary by school, so it’s important to check each school’s requirements. Typically, candidates sit the ISEB Pre-test in Year 6, with successful students then invited to take further school-specific exams. Offers may be unconditional or conditional on passing the 13+ exams in Year 8. Many schools also hold scholarship assessments in Year 8, rewarding academic or extracurricular merit, and some provide means-tested bursaries.
Our specialist 13+ tutors have extensive experience guiding students through these stages, providing tailored support in subject knowledge, exam technique, and interview preparation to help each child perform confidently and achieve their goals.
CAT4 Pre-Test
The Cognitive Abilities Test (CAT4) is used by many selective and independent schools to assess a pupil’s reasoning skills and academic potential. It’s often part of the Year 7 admissions process, particularly for late-entry or international applicants, and is also used for streaming and set placement. The CAT4 is suitable for students aged 6 to 17 and focuses on how a child thinks rather than what they’ve memorised.
The test is divided into four sections: Verbal, Non-verbal, Quantitative, and Spatial Reasoning. Each is designed to reveal different aspects of cognitive ability. It’s used by schools such as Eton, Latymer Upper, City of London School, Francis Holland, and King’s College School Wimbledon.
Our experienced tutors offer targeted CAT4 preparation, building the reasoning skills and confidence needed to succeed. Lessons include practice questions, test strategies, and support tailored to each child’s strengths and needs. If your child is preparing for selective school entry or internal assessment, we provide expert tuition, with proven results.
